Pregnant women must consume food items that are rich in fiber. They must include fresh fruits and vegetables in their diet, as these are the best sources of dietary fiber. Along with fruits and vegetables, they must consume whole grains, oats, barley, cereals, brown rice, whole wheat bread, etc.
In most cases, defecating green feces during pregnancy is something one should not worry about and so a trip to the doctor isn't necessary. It is usually the food or extra iron consumption that causes green bowel movement during pregnancy. After delivery, reducing the consumption of green vegetables and stopping the intake of supplements often works to restore normal stool color. However, if that doesn't help, seeking medical advice at the earliest is recommended.
Bile is secreted by the liver and is stored in the gallbladder. It is of yellowish green color. Bile juice is present in the small intestine and helps in the process of digestion. When the waste material passes through the small intestine, bile juice acts on it and helps in the digestion of fats. As the stool comes in contact with the bile juice, it undergoes chemical reaction and the green color of bile changes to brown. If the stool passes more frequently than normal, then the reaction is unable to take place which results in green color stool.
People suffering from constipation should drink more water, because the higher the water content in the body, the more moisture content one's stool will have, thereby resulting in softer stool. Add some barley leaves to water and boil. Drink this concoction every 3 hours, to obtain relief from constipation problems.
